Pool Alarms – How Can You Protect Your Child From Pool Hazards?
Believe or not, swimming pools kill more children per year in the
USA than guns. Tragic, isn’t it? But you don’t have to
suffer from this lurking danger.
Swimming pool alarms and pool door
alarm have been around for some time and can provide us a 24 hour
check on any incident.
What Is A Swimming Pool Alarm?
Basically, it is a sensor or group of sensors that are placed near
or inside the pool for detecting any movement. Similar to a home security
system, the idea behind them is to avoid any possible danger to you
children or the children of your visitors.
Even if you don’t have kids, pool safety alarms should be
considered a must for any responsible adult.
What is its Purpose?
Many parents don’t consider it a necessity since their reasoning
is that their children don’t use the pool unless they are around.
What is worse, many of them place a fence around the pool considering
that it will give enough security. Although that is true, someone
may have left the door unsecured or the child may have found an access
that a grown up wouldn’t have noticed.
Unfortunately, children are very curious, and can escape the attention
of a distracted parent who went to answer the phone or felt asleep
under the sun. It only takes a couple of minutes for the inevitable
to occur.
So, a swimming pool alarm isn’t only a system placed for
those moments when you are not around, but a complement to eliminate
the human risk factor. A machine is capable of doing what we can’t:
perpetual surveillance. Like it or not, we humans are more prone
to make mistakes than them.
How Does It Work?
Basically, wireless pool alarms use sensors that detect any kind of
movement around the pool. Once these sensors pick up something that
it considers dangerous, it will send a transmission to a base connected
to an electrical outlet. The base will start an alarm that will alert
the parents about the pool intrusion.
