What Are The Advantages of Security Camera Network?

First of all, it’s cheap since the NSC connects to your existing computer network, so you will not have to wire all your organization or building with a video cable.

If you go for the network security camera wireless
option, you will find that it is fairly easy to install. You only need to place the cameras on the points you wish to control, connect them to an electrical outlet and that’s it!

Another advantage is that you can control your wired or wireless network security camera from any location, not just within your office network. You only need to access a determined webpage, enter your username and password and you will be able to check what is happening at your facilities. Of course, for this option you will require specialized software. Right now you may find in the market camera network security software from Axis, Panasonic and Recam.

Each one of them has different prices and was created for different kind of consumers. Since they can be quite expensive, take note on your necessities and make some research on the manufacturers’ webpage. You may find that their network security camera software is too complex for your requirements.
What Are The Disadvantages Of Security Camera Network?
Unfortunately there are two limitations to a NSC.

The first one is the network traffic generated by the transmission of live video (and in some cases, audio).

The other inconvenient is the quality of the image. The average web camera has never distinguished itself for good image transmission (which should be expected since they are inexpensive). So, if you go for a cheap NSC, you will find that its image quality is fairly comparable to the amount of money that you paid.

So, if you are not sure of acquiring an IP security camera or a typical video surveillance system that uses coaxial cable, consider two things. The first one, how big is your budget, and the second one, how important is the surveillance for your organization. If you are a transnational corporation with security standards, it’s doubtful you will be able to use them. On the other hand, you may be a restaurant owner and wish to control the food storage to check if anyone is stealing from you at night. In that case an IP camera will satisfy your needs.

You will find lot’s of brands in the market: Sony, Panasonic, D-link, and Toshiba are some of them. And their prices go from US$50 to hundreds of dollars. Be careful with the brand and the price. If you buy a very cheap camera, it’s highly probable that you will have bought a low end product. The best advice is to go for something in the middle and evaluate if you will need something better in the future or if you are ok.

Something that must be noticed is that the majority of owners of a security camera network acknowledge that they wouldn’t have even considered a surveillance system if they haven’t found an option as economical as that one. It may be your case, in which a wired or wireless network security camera makes this option affordable to your budget.
