Video Security System – One of The Best Devices among Home
Security Systems
Digital video surveillance system has revolutionized the security
concept radically. This is in principle a closed circuit TV network
within a limited area.
Of late, wireless video security systems are
fast coming to the fore. Nevertheless, they allow surveillance of
the covered areas, through easy to install cameras and TVs, of any
abnormal movement. One great advantage of these remote video surveillance
systems is undeterred vigilance without sentries.
Components of a Home Video Security System
The basic components are cameras, monitors, cables if the chosen system
is not wireless, power supply and recorders.
Camera
A home video surveillance system camera can be one of the
following options like black and white 1/3” or infrared CCD
cameras for night vision in 3.6mm lens.
Monitors
You can use a normal TV or a PC for monitoring if you have
special functions like recording for instance in your mind. Quad process
is one such thing that allows recording and replays.
Recorders like VCRs will suffice the need. If you are using PC, separate
recorders are not needed.
Cables
Plug and Play’ Cable Assembly, RCA/DC/RCA Length,
as per requirement.
Power supply
You will need 2 separate power supplies, one, the main
and the other being the standby.
Home Video Security Software
Dedicated software and a card will help PC receive camera signals
and store them on the hard disk. The security software begins recording
only when there is movement in the field of view and can trigger messages
to your cell phones or any phone. You can use this software as a video
watcher even if you are out. Logging on to your PC from your cell
or PDA will allow you to watch the surveillance video. So you are
never away from your home with this remote view facility.
What is CCTV? Can It Be Used For Home Security?
Home security CCTV means closed circuit TV and in a home security
context, you have 3-4 cameras around the home connected basically
through cables run across (cables are not necessary if you prefer
wireless video security systems). The cameras don’t cost much
(somewhere between $150 and $250) unless you favor micros like hidden
cameras. A benefit of installing CCTV in a home context is having
a vigil on all four sides pretty easily. Cameras having night vision
capability which is attached to hooters serve very well for night
vigil too.
