Types of Home Security Sensors
There are many different type of sensor depending on material used,
rays used, distance to be measured and communication. The major classification
is Security system motion detector
and door/ windows security sensors.
Security System Motion Detector
The motion detector detects various factors like light, radar, infrared
rays and microwave rays. The working of motion detector is the radar
detects the passage of human being near the door or windows. The detector
is placed above the door and it sends a ray and waits for the reflected
energy to bounce back. If person moves through the door the reflected
energy will change and it takes more time, which in turn the gives
signal to the burglar alarm. By this alarm the owner will identify
that some intruder is inside the room.
The sensor used is infrared. In microwave motion sensors they make
use of rays. It is simple in size and sensitive in the range of
8-12 micrometers. The light is sensitive to

motion and not to the
human beings. The cost of this motion detector is cheaper compared
to other detector but installation is more expensive. The entire
door and windows can be controlled using a single security system.
Doors / Windows Security System
Magnetically senses the doors and windows movement along with wireless
system. The magnetic sensors are small in size and consist of 1 magnet
and 1 magnetic sensor. The magnet is placed in such a position that
magnet and magnetic sensor are parallel to each other. Whenever the
signal between them is interrupted the magnetic switch is tripped
and immediately it sounds the alarm.
It is available with 110-db sirens along with flashing light that
helps to indicate intruder is present in the home. It helps protect
anything that opens and closes. As the communication is only through
wireless it helps to prevent unwanted wiring. Even garage door sensors
are available in magnet to prevent the vehicle from theft. But magnetic
sensor has to be installed in each and every doors and windows.
The cost of this magnetic sensor is cheaper than other sensor.
How to Choose the Home Security Sensor?
Some of the tips to choose the home security sensor are
1. Survey inside and outside your home and determine the proximity
of your home to your neighbors and street.
2. Decide which doors and windows a sensor should monitor.
3. Ascertain how many zones your security system provides you.
4. The lifestyle of the family should be considered.
5. Glass breaking sensor can be used for some windows because a
single glass-breaking sensor covers all the windows.
6. Fix fire / smoke detector in the kitchen where frequent accidents
occur.
Home security sensors and commercial wireless door sensors, windows
sensor and other types of sensors provide you security and convenience
at affordable rates.
