How To Choose The Right Sensor For Your Home Security System?
Sensor is an electronic device used to sense an object or signal at
a particular distance. A sensor is used to measure and sense the temperature,
sound, pressure and intensity of light.
Nowadays home security sensors
are used in most of the homes to prevent theft. Commercial wireless
door sensors are used to detect and monitor movement near the door
using infrared or microwave rays.
Sensor is a transducer that responds to any type of energy and
converts it into electrical, electronic or optical signal depending
upon the application of the sensor. For example infrared door sensors
are used for small distance about 10 m and it is economical for
the user. Different types of sensors, their operations and some
guidelines to choose the best sensor will be discussed in this article.
Sensor Operation
Sensor works with sensor network that involves sensing, communication
and computation using wireless or wired security system. The operation
of sensor varies with respect to type of material used. The different
types of sensors are: piezo electric sensor, capacitive, optical and
infrared sensor. How do window sensors work? It uses a photoelectric
type of detector. In one window a light source is switched on and
in another side a photoelectric receiver is placed. Whenever the light
is blocked the burglar alarm is turned on and it gives the signal
to the owner. Infra sound sensors are also available to detect the
intruder and it causes less sound along with sensing the object.
Home Security Sensors
Home security system is essential for all homes and the design of
the security system begins with needs of the inhabitants, surveying
existing technology and hardware, cost, display and then installation.
Home security sensors and commercial wireless door sensors are designed
to detect sound, window and doors intrusion, air movement, body heat,
motion and other conditions that indicate an intruder is present.
The system should be designed according to the lifestyle of the user,
location of valuable things and fire alerting sensors.
Home security system can be combined because the sensor has to
fulfill the entire above requirement. The door sensor and window
sensors use infrared or microware sensor along with burglar alarm.
For a wireless sensor transmitter and receiver is connected with
transmitter and receiver along with camera, sensor, siren, central
controller and smoke detector. Hard wired security system uses wires
and the wires have to install that leads to more expense. Fire detection
sensor is available in heat detectors and smoke detectors and it
is designed to detect a temperature. So, according to the user the
combination of security sensor can be used.
